|Pose 206 Love's In Need Of Love Today|
Episode synopsis: After falling ill while organizing his annual AIDS Cabaret, Pray Tell lands in the hospital leading to a series of unexpected visitors.
Set in the 1980s underground ballroom culture, the show focuses on the plight of the LGBTQ+ community in the Reagan era. The drama revolves around several "houses" and house-mothers. The houses is where the "outcasts" of the society bond as family and aim on bagging trophies at the events called balls.
The participants are judged on their costumes, their voguing skills and attitude. Going beyond the glitz and glamour of the balls, the series highlights other issues that affected the LGBTQ community in the 1980s, including the HIV/AIDS crisis.
The show's protagonist is Blanca, the founder and mother of the 'House of Evangelista,' who is in stark opposition to Elektra Abundance's 'House of Abundance.' In the finale, Blanca triumphed over Elektra, winning the 'Mother of the Year' trophy.
Season 2 of the series will reportedly not pick up where the first season left off. Co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed at the TCA summer press tour that 'Pose' Season 2 will start in 1989, a year after the events of Pose season 1 concluded.
Murphy said that there will be a "one-year time jump" from 1988 to 1989 in the vogue era and that the season will end in March 1990 when pop star Madonna released her smash hit single Vogue which paid tribute to the underground ball culture.
According to Murphy, Madonna’s Vogue "took something that was unknown in the culture and made it mainstream. And 'Pose' season 2 will be about the reaction of our characters to that moment where their community is suddenly put on display."
