ABOUT THIS FILM:
From the Cannes Award winning short-film director Esmir Filho [Something Like That, Saliva], comes an impressive debut film about a teenager living at a rural German town in southern Brazil while struggling to find his way out of his loneliness as he discovers his sexuality.

QUEER FACTOR OF THIS FILM
This is a very dense and art-house type of movie that already garnered a cult following in Brazil and in Europe where it was well-received. Although most people don't seem to grasp this evident fact, this is a movie about a boy discovering his homosexuality and coping with a small town setting that will never accept him.

After a sequence of gay related suicides in Brazil, the director took his weblog to finally address the gay-theme in his cult film: "If you watched my debut film, The Famous and the Dead, and realized that it told a story about a boy struggling with his sexuality while being oppressed by the small town ignorance of his peers, congratulations. This is the real world. We decided not to tackle the subject directly through words, because a lot of times this issue is never addressed but is subtly "acted upon" which is equally suffocating. There's no need to be singled-out by ones sexuality for prejudice to exist.(...) So pay attention, it's all there." [note: it really is!].

So far the only festival to label this film as a coming-out story was the San Francisco International Film Festival. They were spot on...

WARNING!!!
Please check out the trailers below to see if it grabs your interest. This is the type of film that you either love to death or die of boredom. 8-) I for one loved this movie in every possible way. This is an experience of feelings and moods just as much as it is a story. For some, is logical and simple. For others is confusing and abstract, thus "boring as hell".

Make no mistake: this is a gay-themed movie, with peer pressure, lust for male friends and even a webcam strip-tease leading to gay sex. Pay attention to the dialogues and excuses the characters use and exercise your reading of subtlety and chronology of events. 8-)

SUBTITLES
The subs are embedded into the film and are accessible through your player's option menu. ripped as they came from the original DVD: Spanish, English and Portuguese for the hearing impaired. If you have any trouble accessing the subtitles, I recommend using VLC/Videolan player; it's free and it works like a charm.
